What We've Done
Since 1963, Boyne Lodge Campus Charity (formerly Boyne Valley Hostel Corporation) has been dedicated to enhancing lives at Boyne Lodge and Boyne Campus. This timeline showcases our completed projects, purchases, and community initiatives that have helped create a warm-hearted, family-like environment for our residents. Each entry represents your generous donations at work, improving the quality of life for those who call Boyne Campus home.
From major facility enhancements to thoughtful additions that brighten daily life, these past accomplishments reflect our ongoing commitment to supporting resident-centered care.

Boyne Park and
Boyne Memory Garden Restoration
The Boyne Park on the north side of the original Boyne Lodge was created by the volunteer group “Friends of Boyne Park” in 2011 with much community support. The Memory Garden is a quiet, contemplative space located in an alcove south of the original Boyne Lodge entrance (now the entrance to the Boyne Bistro).
Both spaces were damaged during the renovation of the Boyne Lodge. With BLCC funding and volunteers, they were restored to once again be welcoming spaces for residents, their families, staff and visitors.

Accessibility
Creating a safe and accessible environment is central to BLCC’s mission. From wheelchair-accessible transportation to garden tools and adaptive play equipment, we work to remove physical barriers and support every resident’s freedom and dignity.

Boyne Towers
Our support at Boyne Towers helps create a lively, supportive independent living environment. From seasonal décor and internet access to aquariums and activity supplies, we help enhance daily life for the Towers' residents.

Landscape
Creating beautiful, functional, and restorative outdoor spaces is a year-round focus for BLCC. With funding for tools, plants, and infrastructure — and the helping hands of volunteers — we continue to nurture the outdoor spaces across the Boyne Campus.
In the west courtyard, we installed a solid roof on the existing pergola to provide shade and weather protection, making the area more comfortable for residents to gather. We expanded the patio area to make it more wheelchair friendly, and supplied durable outdoor furniture and raised planters, helping residents enjoy fresh air and connection with nature.
Throughout the campus, you’ll find large flower urns — as well as balcony planters that bring a splash of seasonal colour to every level of the Lodge.
One of our largest volunteer efforts involved laying new sod to create greener, softer ground in gathering areas. Volunteers, residents, and staff work together to plant, water, weed, and maintain every bloom you see. Weed control across the complex is also handled by our dedicated volunteer team.
Thanks to this collective care, the courtyards and gardens at Boyne Lodge Campus have become spaces not only of beauty, but of belonging — places to sit, visit, and take joy in what grows.

Fun and Games
Bring joy, laughter, and meaningful activity into every day.
From interactive technology like the Tovertafel “Magic Table”, which projects playful games that stimulate both body and mind, to bundles of classic outdoor and board games, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Balloons add festive color and fun, while simple, engaging activities help build connection, spark memories, and support cognitive well-being.
Our Fun & Games offerings are more than entertainment — they are pathways to social connection, creativity, and everyday delight.

Art and Music
Art and music bring vibrancy, memory, and joy to daily life.
Residents and visitors can pause to enjoy historic photos that spark conversation, admire local art scenes displayed throughout the Lodge, or take in the inspiring “Art Walk” installation, created in partnership with the Golden Prairie Arts Council.
Music is woven into the community with a piano ready for singalongs and church services, and a guitar for staff and residents to share songs and stories. These creative outlets foster connection, lift spirits, and enrich the cultural life of the Lodge.

Special Treats
Sometimes it’s the little things — a surprise ice cream, Halloween Timbits, or a bouquet for someone needing a “flower hug.” These thoughtful gestures help residents feel seen, celebrated, and cared for.
